Design & Action
Tackling 50-mile ultras or multi-day mountain races when you need serious cargo space without the pack beating you up on technical descents means you need a hydration vest that disappears on your back. The PACE 14L Trail Running Vest is a high-capacity ultra running vest built for runners who need room for layers, nutrition, trekking poles, and a full hydration system, while keeping everything locked down tight. USWE's patented No Dancing Monkey Vest harness uses elastic side panels that flex with your chest during hard breathing while clamping the vest against your torso for absolute zero-bounce stability when you're bombing rocky singletrack or grinding steep climbs.
This lightweight hydration vest wraps your body like a second skin with breathable mesh straps and ventilated back panels that dump heat when you're pushing through exposed ridgelines or humid forest trails. The front chest pockets hold two included 500ml ultraflasks for quick hydration access without breaking stride, while the massive 14-liter rear compartment swallows a 2-liter hydration bladder plus extra clothing, first aid kit, headlamp, and enough gels to fuel you through the night. Multiple zippered pockets and elastic storage options keep your phone, keys, and snacks organized and within reach when you need them.
Tech & Specs
NDM Vest harness with elastic side panels: Delivers 100% bounce-free fit that moves with your breathing and locks the vest to your back on gnarly terrain
14-liter total capacity: Hauls everything you need for long ultras including a 2-liter hydration bladder, extra layers, nutrition, and emergency gear
Dual 500ml ultraflask system: Included soft flasks sit in front chest pockets for hands-free hydration without fumbling with a hose
Breathable mesh construction: Ventilated straps and back panels keep air flowing when you're grinding through hot weather or high-output efforts
258g weight (excluding flasks): Keeps the load light so you can focus on moving fast instead of hauling dead weight
Fit & Kit
Dial in the fit by adjusting the elastic side straps and chest buckles until the vest sits snug against your torso without restricting your breathing. The harness should feel tight enough that nothing shifts when you jump or sprint, but loose enough that your chest can expand fully during hard efforts. Available in sizes XS through XL to fit all body types. Clean the included ultraflasks and any hydration bladder with warm soapy water after each run and let them air dry completely to prevent funky tastes or mold buildup.
FAQ
Can I fit trekking poles on this vest?+
Yes, the PACE 14L has attachment points designed to secure trekking poles so you can stash them when you hit runnable terrain without them flopping around.
Will this vest fit over a jacket in cold weather?+
The elastic side panels stretch to accommodate extra layers, so you can wear it over a lightweight jacket without losing the secure fit or dealing with bounce.
Does the 14-liter capacity include the flask pockets?+
Yes, the 14-liter total volume includes the front flask pockets and the large rear compartment, giving you plenty of space for hydration plus all your gear.
Can I use a hydration bladder instead of the flasks?+
Absolutely. The rear compartment fits up to a 2-liter hydration bladder, and you can run both the bladder and flasks at the same time for maximum water capacity on long ultras.
How do I stop the vest from chafing on long runs?+
Make sure the elastic side straps are snug enough to prevent any shifting or rubbing. The breathable mesh construction helps reduce friction, but dial in the fit before your race to avoid hotspots.
I ve had the user 8 L for many years and wanting something bigger for ultras. I bought one from a well known other brand beginning with S.as everyone talks about them but hated it. My new uswe 14 is perfect. Easy to fasten and so comfy. Plenty of space and just a great design. No bounce even when fully packed up. I prefer to use a hydration pack but the bottles which come with the vest fit into the front pockets easily. Highly recommend.
Love the no-bounce fit and easy-on / easy-off with just the one buckle. Two small recommendations to make this product absolutely perfect:
1. The front pockets for the water bottles (soft flasks) could be improved by having just one channel that goes down and into the breast of the vest. That is, the bottles get hung-up on the seems and other storage area. One singular sleeve with no seems or cross access to the pocket would make putting the bottle in place so much easier.
2. The various draw strings for synching the back or tightening the vest or raising it up from the shoulders could be improved by being a different color than the vest itself. When running, it's hard to see and find the various adjustment points.
Overall, absolutely the best running best I've owned! Would buy again!
Ive been a Solomon vest wearer for awhile. I've hated the elastic connectors at the front - a few times it' separated mid race when I'm tired and don't need problems to fix. Love the simple connector PACE 14L. Storage is on par with Solomon - though there is no bladder hook but not a big deal. I don't find the side pockets easy to access while running to get gels - again not a big deal - I just switched which side they were so I can use my dominant arm to get what I need. Storing polls seems an afterthought but I use a belt to carry them. Overall I love the vest and happy with my choice.
Only issue is the bungee cord on the bottom right hand side of the vest had to be removed. This cord kept hitting me in the arm while running and was driving me crazy.
No bounce! I have a bigger USWE backpack and just added this vest to my collection. It holds a surprisingly amount of gear. Got it on sale and it’ll be at the top of my grab and go stack.
Own this one and the 8L one. Love them both but the zippered pocket makes this one even better. Plenty of pockets for everything I need on long runs and ultras.
My only complaint are the bottles, more specifically, the openings. They are on the small side so it makes it very difficult to add electrolyte powder to them.
I ride horses over difficult terrain for long distances. Mongol derby/ gaucho derby. It is essential to be balanced in the saddle and not have a pack moving around. The pockets store my GPS and Inreach and other essential items. Having to take a pack off to access these items can be precarious while on the horse. I ride with an eventing/ protective vest and this pack actually fits and the pockets are accessible. So grateful for the front pockets. Only thing I would like to change is to have something to close the pockets where the water bottles are placed for more options to store and use a bladder instead.
I had to size up my running pack for a longer event and this was a great choice. The buckle system is so much easier to deal with compared to other packs, making it simple to get on and off when searching for extra snacks and kit. So far there been zero bounce and no chafing!
The only negative for me is the pole carrying function isnt great.
The pace 14L is an awesome west for trail running. Fits like a glove with no bouncing. The only drawback is that the soft flask has a small opening. Hard to get sport drink powder and electrolyte tablets in. The soft flasks tend to drop down in their pockets. There is an elastic to hold them but the flasks slide out of them even if tightened. The flasks has a straw so its easy to get them back up again. Otherwise a real solid west by USWE. Really happy with my purchase.
Fits like a glove tight around the chest. If the back pack is empty with both bottles full it feels like it wants to slide forward a bit. But its intended to carry some gear otherwise you would like a smaler vest. And with some gear in the pack the balance is great
So far, this vest is working great. When I run with 2 bottles and a 2L bag the vest doesn't move. I keep my poles attached to the front of my vest and have had zero issues. The front pockets are big enough for my phone and snacks and the 14L pack has plenty of room for long runs and extra gear.
Only complaint is the bottles have a narrow lid, making adding electrolytes tricky. I just changed them out right off the bat.
Overall great pack!
Small review of the pace 14l trail running vest.
After a small test in the trail Cretes de Spa 21K, it was time for a really serious test.
Trail du Grand Ballon 72K.
This is the best gear I could use already. The fit, the comfort, the many storage options. . . . 1 word. . . phenomenal!!!!
And this without the vest moving, is really tight on the body without bothering or irritating.
Don't want another brand anymore.
Absolutely love it. . . I had the 8L one, and I use it all the time, still looks like new. But I'm doing a long event which needs lots of compusory gear, so I need the bigger pack. This one is perfect, fits all the gear with room to spare. I can even fit my 2 Z poles inside the bag! There is no bounce, it sits close to my body and doesn't pull, so never gets uncomfortable. I do have to tuck in all the long pieces of ribbon and cord, but I am quite little so that's not really the vest's fault! I wouldn't wear anything else, I just feel sorry for the people who haven't tried an USWE vest yet when I watch them suffer with their packs bumping about on their backs.
Great running rucksack love the big pockets at the front and the pockets at the back as well as the big main pouch . . looking forward to many outings in the future
Lightweight mesh is too delicate. Most adventurers, including myself, explore outside where bushes, trees, the sun and other items come in contact with this pack. Of the five USWE packs I own, all are falling apart, the mesh rips first, then the elastic, zipppers and fabric. Love the design, works better than anything else Ive used. Despise the durability.
I bought this for a race and it arrived really quickly which was brilliant as I left it a little late.
55km ultra first run out and great test for it. Great pockets and storage, good access at all times.
Good build quality and good materials used throughout
A couple of elements could do with a little tweaking but no movement or bounce and the best vest I have ever had
My wife was after an all day pack for long ultras and she looked at these packs so I surprised her with one. And she absolutely loves it a little problem with one of the flasks but we were sent a new one and now it works perfectly. Ideal for carrying lots of essential gear and she says its so comfortable and would recommend one to anyone
