Sometimes you're on the edge of giving up… How do you keep going? Some see it as a one-day race, eight times! Stage 2 of 2022 Absa Cape Epic takes our athletes on a 123km African Odyssey into to the east while climbing 2350m in the African heat. They all invested so much to get here, See how the day three of Absa Cape Epic has affected them. It’s just getting started, full gas!
The route crosses the Helderberg basin, goes through Vergelegen, and climbs the Gantouw Link and the Gantouw Pass portage.
Once on the Elgin plateau out athletes must keep on going through the the Waterfall trail, Witklippies trail and Pofadder trail. Kat Pas and the new JK’s Switchbacks singletrack leads into the Overberg and onto Van der Stel Pas.
From here the route turns into an insane climb that will carve its way into Absa Cape Epic lore in one single encounter. But once up on the top, they will get rewarded with a spectacular view before dual tracks sap the final reserves from the legs on the way to Elandskloof.
